Buttery | Clarendon - House Decades

Buttery | Clarendon

In 2005, The Buttery opened its first location on Shawmut Avenue, expanding in 2012 to include additional markets (also designed by H + A). True to Buttery’s history, the market on Clarendon Street features a warm yet sophisticated palette of colors, materiality and textures.

Painted tin ceiling panels are used to mimic those found in South End building history, polished carrara marble lines the counter surfaces, and a sparkling glass display case that features a delicious menu made from organic and loc ally grown ingredients and supplies provided by local producers.

Metallic bar tables and bar stools on the street-facing side of the shop allow customers to enjoy their orders while taking in views of the bustling city. Plain furniture is combined with a patterned floor in black, white and yellow nuances that looks artistic.

The building exterior is in harmony with the surrounding environment, with exposed red bricks combined with black panels as the entrance. The black and white striped canopy attracts visitors with a simple shop logo.
