District Hall, Boston’s public innovation hub, is the first building to be completed on Seaport Square, a 23-acre waterfront development at Boston Global Investors. Located in the heart of Seaport Square, it is also the first city-sponsored independent innovation center of its kind in the country, serving as an anchor for the Harbor District. SF Gather’s 3,000 Restaurant and Brew Café is the District Hall’s only permanent resident, which supports the building’s public functions with breakfast, lunch, and dinner, seven days a week.
The Gather was designed based on District Hall’s core experience: uniting Boston in the Innovation District. The rustic American food in this restaurant is lit up by the warm glow of dozens of light bulbs hung from a cloud of CNC-treated wood that are tightly designed to control sound, reflect light and create intimacy in an industrial space inspired by District Hall. Floor-to-ceiling windows offer views of the Institute of Contemporary Art and Boston Harbor skyline. The H + A team of interior designers worked closely with our architects to create a stunning palette of materials, textures and colors to enhance the dining experience in the city’s new innovation hub.
Serving breakfast and lunch, as well as coffee, wine and beer to District Hall customers, the Brew Café is designed as an integral part of the District Hall’s central backbone, inviting diners to relax in the center’s posh cafe seating or engage in discussion, exposition, or workshop. Bright green walls and warm CNC milled surfaces reflect the colorful LED lighting above.
