Longwood Row - House Decades

Longwood Row

Location: Boston, MA
Completion Date: 2020
Size: 35,000 SF

Longwood Row is a combination of renovation and new construction work, preserving Roxbury’s pudding-stone townhouse structure at 2-5 Sewall Street and 1472-1474 Tremont Street. The design accentuates an juxtaposition of existing and new, inspired by the contrast between natural pudding and man-made materials, such as composite panels and brick. Longwood Row is a building located in Boston, MA with an area of 35,000 SF and completed in 2020.

The new building at 1-3 Sewall Street includes four floors on Tremont Street and five floors from Tremont and Sewall. In total, the project includes 33 residential units, 10 covered parking spaces, space for 33 bicycles, and ground floor retail. In addition to the four renovated units in the Tremont Street townhouse, 29 units are available in the new building and include 12 studios, 14 one-bedroom units and three two-bedroom units. Four units meet the city’s affordability requirements.

The interior of the building is dominated by bright yellow and gray. The game of lights on the ceiling is also something that attracts the attention of visitors. Key points such as the elevator are made more striking with the bright yellow color as a marker. Detailed arrow ornaments mark the access to the lift, while detailed ornaments with a bicycle image mark the access to the bicycles space.
