The Colossus Apartment : A New Wave of True Male Interior

The Colossus Apartment : A New Wave of True Male Interior

Our task was to equip a living space in a new residential complex for a young single man, create a calm interior, and rethink a concept of a modern masculine interior. There is a stable image of a man and the perfect space he should live in. Our team wanted to break the rules and prove that a perfect place for a man doesn’t always mean to be characterized exclusively by dark colors, an abundance of metal, and a glass of whiskey on the table.

The apartment of 127 square meters is located on the nineteenth floor of the residential complex “Skyline” of the green Pechersk district. It consists of a master bedroom with an adjoining bathroom, a dressing room, a guest bedroom with a bathroom, and a kitchen combined with a living room. Our design team carefully rearranged this space to make it as spacious as possible, fill it with daylight, and emphasize this atmosphere with natural materials and luxury furniture.

The design concept of this apartment was in implementing the idea of calm but subtle masculine manifestation inside these walls. We created a cozy and trusting vibe with a warm pastel palette, graphite glass partitions, a lot of custom items made of natural stone, and authentic art objects. Thus, every corner of this apartment does not attract attention with intensity but creates a confident atmosphere in which you want to stay.

The Colossus Apartment project was completed in 9 months, and the idea of our team to arrange the zones and fill them with this particular furniture and objects helped us visually expand this space and ensure that this apartment is stylistically ideal for our client — a single man.

When walking on the oak parquet, that is the basis of almost the entire space of the apartment, you can get to know every corner of this apartment better. There is a custom island of stone and metal that smoothly blends into the dining table in the space that the kitchen shares with the living room. The tall bar stools on the sides, instead of a full dining area, is a technique that sets the tone for a slightly dynamic apartment.

The private areas of this apartment, the master bedroom and the guest bedroom, are made in a somewhat ascetic style: nothing will distract the owner or his guests from a good night’s sleep. To add a deep, dark accent, our studio opted for exquisite graphite glass for the wardrobe with dynamic sliding partitions. If you leave the sleeping areas, take note that the living room, in contrast, is more filled with designer items, pleasant textures, and textiles.

To emphasize the objective of this apartment is made for a man, the design team chose massive art objects in the form of a statue to be set in the living room and a sculpture in the master bedroom. The bronze statue by Yegor Zigura called “Colossus Holds Up the World” inspired the studio to name this space after him, and the sculpture “Space Around” by another famous Ukrainian creator Nazar Bilyk inclines to a newcomer that one will harmoniously fit into the created interior since a person is the center of a space.

We celebrate how different natural materials can be combined and complemented. Wood, metal, and stone in the shades we have chosen for this apartment create a complete picture and mood of this home. The only thing that can make it better is quality textiles and soft leather upholstery.

Artificial lighting should fulfill its practical function and illuminate the necessary areas of the apartment, and the lamps themselves should be an organic addition to the interior. That is why for this interior we used a lamp of an unusual shape from the Flos brand in the guest bedroom, and decorated the other rooms with stylish adjustable ceiling lamps.
