Zero Marlborough - House Decades

Zero Marlborough

Zero Marlborough is a penthouse located in Boston, MA measuring 4,400 SF and was completed in 2009.. H+A provided full architectural and interior design services for this triplex penthouse in an Art-Deco building in the Back Bay. The 4400 SF open plan was carefully arranged around building infrastructure to create an expansive sense of space with both horizontal and vertical connections. A rich mix of warm and cool tones in the materials, textiles, and finishes provides a balance of youthful energy and sophistication throughout the space.

The entrance area is like a high hallway with magnificent sky light and tall wooden doors, wooden doors are not made plain, but are given a square panel detail so that it doesn’t appear empty while other doors are made with frosted glass as a detail. A thick wooden arc welcomes the entrance and living area.

The stairs are made very attractive by combining stainless steel and wood to create a unique impression. The stiff yet clean nature of stainless steel is matched by the warm nature of the wood, making this blend in balance.

A warm concept family room with a variety of brown colors that are nicely arranged. Light cream fabric chairs and sofas on wooden frames match the wooden shelves and floor lamps. The fireplace takes center stage with its bold black marble walls accentuating an elegant light at night, while during the day the room gets plenty of natural light from its windows overlooking Boston city views.

The dining room and kitchen are dominated by wood materials. The dining area for guests is elegantly crafted with glossy wood tables and gray leather chairs. The large abstrack painting in sepia hangs on the wall makes for a beautiful backdrop.

The kitchen is made very neatly with wooden cabinets and white marble countertops. The island table in the center connects to the bar table and bar stools at the same time. Next to the kitchen is a more casual dining table with long wooden chairs and quirky black chairs. The minimalist black chandelier highlights beautifully.

The bedroom and bathroom have very different nuances. Minimalist furniture with black and white dom cross gives a more masculine and minimalist impression. The bathroom is made with several details such as marble walls, plants and matching paintings. While the bedroom is made with minimal furniture so that it seems more spacious.
