A victorian house located in Cambridge, MA and completed in 2010 with an area of 7,900 SF. The concept of this house is spacious yet comfortable, and the open plan makes everyone feel close even when in different rooms.
A metal staircase spirals down to the patio, joining the second floor to the yard and the family’s pool. The yard has access to a greenhouse and a garden which makes the outdoor area more comfortable for family activities.
Off-white wallpaper and light wood accents keep the family room bright and a new doorway into the study makes the space feel open and airy. Walls that served to compartmentalize the study were removed to create an open floor plan. Light wood extends into the study’s interior and the remainder of the wing, further brightening the area.
In the master bedroom, two closets lead to white marble bathrooms, adjoined by a steam shower. French doors offer a direct connection to nature, opening onto a roof deck with a retractable awning that was built atop a music room by renowned architect Asher Benjamin.
