Personal House, Townhouse

Union Park TH

The residence occupies the bottom three floors of a historic South End townhouse: the top floor is the ‘piano nobile’ parlor level, with its ornate detailing carefully restored. The architecture gets progressively more modern as you move downward, ending in a sleek high-gloss kitchen on the basement level, which was excavated to raise the ceiling height.

The vibrant interiors are evidence of a truly collaborative process between client and design team. The client’s extensive art collection inspired the combination of bold colors, playful patterns and graphic text, and the silhouettes of furniture and lighting were kept simple to showcase the ornate historic details.

The bathroom area is made more minimalist and modern, with bold colors accentuating red and black in one bathroom and a softer white in the other. The transparent door in the bathroom allows a spacious impression of the room and gives a unique and stylish wallpaper detail.

A futuristic staircase with aluminum and glass as a railing. The hallway with bold red walls is combined with a white bookcase as a unique partition. In the living room there is a planting sofa as a very comfortable reading area with useful simple lights.
