Laconia Loft East

Focused around the client’s collection of contemporary art and appreciation for natural light and color, the design of this duplex penthouse loft is characterized by clearly defined volumes and a minimalist material palette. Located within H+A’s Laconia Lofts building, the living room’s double height space frames spectacular skyline views of Boston’s Back Bay and is connected to the upper bedroom level and roof terrace by a prominent staircase. All of the adjacent rooms and spaces, including a chef’s kitchen, three bedrooms and a study, physically and visually flow into one another while maintaining their sense of definition and privacy.

The family room looks very spacious with minimal bulkheads. His furniture looks light with bright colors, white sofas and bright yellow chair cushions that are striking matched with a unique and futuristic geometric single chair. Acrylic coffee table with rainbow color stands out as the center of attention. Large glass windows let the morning and afternoon sun shine through naturally.

The kitchen area and bar table have direct access from the living room. The dominance of white gives a broad impression even though in fact it is small. The kitchen set is designed with a minimalist concept with plenty of space to store kitchen utensils and groceries.

The dining room also has direct access from the living room and kitchen. The dining room is dominated by black and white with a long and large dining table made of glass so that it doesn’t look cramped. Several room decorations adorn the dining room area such as artificial plants and matching paintings, namely black and white.

The stairs in this house have several levels to connect one room to another. In accordance with the concept, the stairs in this house are made simple, minimalist and light with wood and steel which is painted white so that it looks light and floating.
